Mark Rosendahl Obituary

Mark Curtis Rosendahl, age 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 4, 2024, from lifelong lung disease.  He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 2nd, 1953, to Kenneth Rosendahl, a postal clerk, and Maxine (Peterson) Rosendahl, a nursing instructor. One of four children, Mark’s childhood was full of hunting, guns, love for animals, and trips to Illinois to his grandparents’ farm.

His first job was carrying mail, the beginning of a thirty-five-year career with the postal service. At age 21, in the providence of God, Mark and his brother, also a letter carrier, heard the gospel from a Baptist pastor on the mail route and put their faith in Christ.  Mark’s greatest joy in life was “being saved from the penalty of sin by Jesus”.  He found that things he formerly loved, he now hated, and things he formerly hated, he now loved.  His new passion for his faith and God’s Word led him to attend Faith Baptist Bible College (B.A.) and then Grace Seminary.

At Grace Seminary, one of Mark’s professors quickly stood out amongst the rest.  Dr. John Whitcomb’s graciousness and theological knowledge was greatly admired by students, and God was specially interweaving the stories of this theology professor and young mail carrier.  Dr. Whitcomb’s only daughter, Constance, or “Connie”, met Mark at a local hospital where she worked as a nurse.  Mark and Connie were married six months later on April 13th, 1985.  The Lord blessed them with 5 precious children.

Drawn by the desirable climate and godly Christian community, Mark and his family moved from Indiana to Moscow, Idaho.  Moscow has been home for twenty-five years, serving as an important backdrop in the raising the five children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Mark was passionate about the centrality of God’s Word. He led his family faithfully in the reading and memorization of scripture as well as prayer time. For most of his life, Mark struggled with lung disease. He understood that it was Grace that sustained him for these many years. His deepest hope is that all who are reading this would put their faith in the saving blood of His loving Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Mark is survived by his wife, Connie Rosendahl, and his five children. Josiah (Kelsey), Nathanael (Anna Elizabeth), Anna, Daniel, and Sarah (Skye), and two grandchildren Judah and Irene.
