Pete Pfeifer Photo0001Peter Joseph Pfeifer of Moscow died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston. He was 82.

Pete was born February 23, 1935 at Richardton, North Dakota to Michael and Magdalen Schutsman Pfeifer. When he was two years old, the family moved to the Clarkston-Lewiston area and he attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School. At the age of 17, Pete joined the Air Force serving in Japan. Following his discharge, he returned to Lewiston. He and Audrey Jackson were married on August 29, 1956 in Coeur d’Alene. They lived in Lewiston for 15 years where he held various positions.

They moved to Moscow and purchased C & L Lockers and operated the business for ten years prior to selling it. They built their home on Teare Road and Pete worked as a meat cutter in Palouse. He then drove bus for Gritman Medical Center for 10 years before he retired.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moscow, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Lewiston Sherriff’s Posse for many years. He loved working outdoors and was an accomplished mechanic – a real “Mr. Fix-it”.

Pete is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey, at their Moscow home, a son Jeff of Moscow as well as two sisters, Barbara Winters of Salem, OR and Theresa Rape of Coeur d’Alene and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Rev. Joseph McDonald. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be at St. Mary’s Family Center following. Private committal and urn placement will be at Moscow Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary’s School Foundation or to St. Mary’s Church.
