Bertha “Beth Metzker” Hanson

Bertha “Beth Metzker” Hanson, of Moscow died Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. She was 84.

Beth was born on September 24, 1931 in Napoleon, North Dakota to Gustav and Katharina Schnabel. She grew up in Napoleon and attended area school, graduated from Napoleon High School in 1950. Beth attended college in Tennessee, where she met Arthur Hanson, they were later married. Arthur died in 1983. In October of 1988 Beth met Norm Metzker in a hospital in Alexandria, MN. They were married on November 15, 1990 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, and made their home in Moscow.

Beth was a member of the Moscow Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was a greeter for many years. She loved to read, tend her house plants and puzzles. Beth was an avid gardener, and enjoyed tending her garden in the summer.

Beth was preceeded in death by her parent, her first husband Arthur in February 33 years ago in 1983 and daughter Sandra, in February of 2015.

She is survived by her husband Norm Metzker at their Moscow home, a brother, Harold (June) Schnabel, children Dennis, Vernell, Clyde, Ira, and Doreen, 7 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service of will be held at 3: p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Moscow Seventh Day Adventist Church.

    I am so sorry about the loss of Beth. I always enjoyed my visits with her, first meeting her when she moved to
    Bovill. She was always a bright spot in my day, when she would come into the post office for her mail and our daily visits.
    She will be missed by many.
