Carol Price, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Moscow. She died at home with her family at her side. Mildred Carol Price (neé Mayo) was born in Waltham, Massachusetts September 22, 1928, to Mildred and Fred Mayo. After finishing high school and attendance at an academy for learning advanced clerical skills, Carol worked several years as an executive secretary in a prominent Boston accounting firm.
Carol married Harold James Price in 1951 in Milton, Massachusetts. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The couple had two children: Lynn Carol Price (now of New Haven, CT) and William (Bill) James Price (now of Deary, ID), both born in Albuquerque.
Over the years, the family also lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Juno Beach, Florida, and Los Lunas, New Mexico, as Harold’s career as an electrical engineer presented these opportunities. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Moscow in 1992, having purchased land in Deary, ID where Bill and his wife Beth make their home.
Carol was an avid quilter, and her quilts reflected her love of bright colors, the farming countryside, and her admiration of traditional quilting patterns. She made quilts for critically ill children as part of the ongoing Linus Project, as well as making quilts for local police and social services agencies to offer to children rescued from crisis situations such as natural disasters or domestic abuse.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her brother Robert (Skipper) Mayo, and her parents. Carol requested no funeral services or public memorials. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity or non-profit organization of choice.
