Sean Betts

Sean Betts PhotoSean Ryan Betts, a proud Idaho native, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Moscow. He was 23.

Sean was born February 7, 1992 in Moscow to Kerry J. and Karen J. Anderson Betts. The family lived in Troy until 2003 when they moved to Moscow where Sean finished school, graduating from Moscow High School in 2010.

Sean had worked as a line cook for Applebee’s from the time he was 15, and until January, seasonally for Les Schwab Tire Store in Moscow.

Sean had a great love and respect for the outdoors, a skilled hunter, enjoyed fishing, reloading, traveling back roads, Country music, big trucks and was thinking about moving to Potlatch because Moscow had “gotten too big.”

Sean is survived by his parents, Kerry and Karen in Moscow, his sisters, Erin of Seattle and Katie of Moscow. He also leaves his grandmothers, Janice Anderson of Hazel Park, Michigan and Beverly Ritchie of Allendale, Michigan, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dennis Anderson and Larry Betts.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 P.M. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Short’s Funeral Chapel, Moscow, and online condolences may be sent to

But for the many miles between us, we’d have been good buddies, Sean. You could have shown me a thing or twenty in the great outdoors. I wonder if hunting is allowed on the other side? Your loving family, will miss you and I will face the fact that when I come out West, I won’t expect to see you; I’ll have to travel to True North to do that.

Blessings to Kerry, Karen, Erin, Katie, and all who suffer in your absence.

Dear Kerry, Karen, Erin and Katie,
I was so very sorry to learn of Sean’s death. I have such fond memories of all the Bett’s kids in my daycare/preschool. Sean was such a kind and friendly kid and he will be lovingly remembered and missed by many. My thoughts of the friendship we developed from that time we shared will endure. I will keep all of you in my thoughts at this difficult time.
